DOWN THE HOLE DRILLING HAMMERS   

DTH hammer is used for drilling holes through a wide range of rock types, the variety of which continues to extend well beyond the original conception of early blast hole drilling.

Down-the-Hole refers to where the hammer action occurs when compared to drifter hammers, which hammer on top of the drill string. The DTH hammer piston always makes direct contact with the drill bit and there is generally no loss of transmitted energy as the hammer drills deeper, as is the case with drifter (top hammer) rigs.

DTH drilling tool is a kind of drilling system which uses compressed air as motivation, makes drilling impact motivation parts down the hole, to control the piston reciprocating motion by the distribution device in the hammer, and then impacts the DTH bit in the front of the hammer to transit the impacting power to the bit. The DTH bit in the front of the hammer breaks the rock to drill hole.

At present, DTH drilling tool is widely used in underground mining, quarries, hydraulic and Hydro-Power Engineering, water well drilling, Mineral exploration, anchoring hole drilling, geothermal engineering, Subway excavation, another civil engineering. it has the advantage of high flatness, smooth hole wall, high rigid of drill rod and hammer, independent of high axial thrust, no limit of drilling depth, low cost of devices and easiness to maintain. At the drilling hole of diameter 105 mm to diameter 254 mm, a plenty of the DTH drilling tools are used.

Please Note:

That, contrary to other ROSCHEN hammer models, the ROS series do use bits with Footvalves. 

ROSCHEN ROS hammers are supplied as standard with a Check Valve arrangement which is designed to maintain the pressure inside the hammer when the air is switched off and so help prevent contaminated

water from entering the hammer.

ROSCHEN ROS hammers are designed to give optimum performance with the minimum consumption of compressed air. If, however, particular deep-hole application require extra air flushing. This can be

achieved by drilling through the soft alloy plug in the piston.
